Dr. A. Keshav Krishna, Scientist, CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad has been selected for the Prestigious National Geoscience Award by the Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India for the year 2016 in the Field of Geo-Environmental Studies in Applied Geosciences.
Dr. A. Keshav Krishna obtained B.Sc degree from Osmania University, M.Sc degree from Andhra University and Ph.D from Osmania University. Dr. Keshav is presently working as Scientist in Geochemistry research group and has 16 years of research experience in Environmental Geochemistry specialization and his research work pertains to contributions in the field of Applied Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Applied Geochemistry, and Environmental Geochemistry in soil, water management and related environmental pollution and risk assessment studies. He is currently involved in studies on Environmental Risk Assessment related to heavy metal contamination in soil, sediments and water in industrial areas, abandoned mine sites and their interactions with the environmental pollutants and on their movement, fate, and bioavailability of contaminants. He has published articles in several national and international journals focusing on interdisciplinary research.
The impact of the work emphasized to reduce the environmental pollution as well as to find out the remedial measures, which will benefit the communities living close to industrial areas and explore links which can be established between environment and health for survival of population who are heavily dependent on the local environment for their food supply.
