Dr.Abhey Ram Bansa

 

Dr. Abhey Ram Bansal, Principal Scientist working at CSIR – NGRI, Hyderabad has been elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (FNASc) for his significant contribution in the field of Earth Sciences. His research work focussed on temporal changes in the seismicity for finding earthquake precursors, remote earthquake triggering in and around Indian region. He proposed a method for estimation of Curie depth from aeromagnetic data and derived high resolution gravity for offshore India from altimetry satellite data besides establishing a strong motion network in Kumaun – Garhwal Himalaya to study the attenuation of seismic waves in the region. He has experience of more than 4 years working at the world’s leading institutions/universities like University of Edinburgh; University of Leeds; The University of Tokyo and Georgia Institute of Technology. He is also a recipient of many other awards such as National Mineral Award in 2005 (Govt. of India); Krishnan Gold Medal in 2008 (Indian Geophysical Union); Fulbright Nehru Senior Research Fellowship (USIEF) and JSPS invitation Fellowship (Japan).
