Dr. Maheswar Ojha working as a scientist in CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad, received B.Sc. in Physics (hons) from University of Calcutta, M.Sc. Tech in Applied Geophysics from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad and Ph.D. in Gas Hydrate (Geophysics) from Osmania University. He is currently doing processing, modelling and inversion of multi-channel and ocean bottom seismic data coupled with rock physics modelling for gashydrate/hydrocarbon exploration. He is also interested in finite difference modelling to solve the numerical dispersion problem of an acoustic wave encountered at a dipping interface. He has worked as visiting scientist under Prof Mrinal K Sen in University of Texas at Austin. He has proposed several new techniques for detection, delineation and quantification of gas-hydrate (considered to be a major energy resource) using rock physics modelling from seismic amplitudes and downhole logs. He has participated in six scientific expeditions including IODP exp-323 in the Bering Sea, Multi channel and ocean bottom seismic data acquisition in Bay of Bengal etc. He is a member of various scientific societies like SPG (life time), SEG (Associate), AAPG (Active). He has been awarded the prestigious CSIR Young Scientist Award 2013, INSA Medal for Young Scientist 2012, AP Academy Young Scientist 2012, BOYSCAST fellowship by DST 2011 and Raman research Fellowship 2015.
