Nimisha Vedanti, Principal Scientist, CSIR-NGRI, received an M.Sc.Tech  in Exploration Geophysics from Banaras Hindu University, India and Ph.D. (2007) from Osmania University while working at CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute, India. She held a postdoctoral position (2007-2008) at the University of Texas at Austin, USA under the BOYSCAST fellowship of the Govt. of India. She worked as visiting scientist at Department of Geoscience, University of Calgary, Canada, SINTEF Petroleum Research, Trondheim, Norway and Department of Geoscience & Petroleum, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim Norway.

Nimisha is recipient of the Krishnan Gold Medal-2017(Indian Geophysical Union), K.R. Gupta Award (2015) of the Geological Society of India, National Geo-science Award (2012), CSIR-Young Scientist Award (2009) and Indian Science Congress Association -Young Scientist Award (2008). Her primary research interests are hydrocarbon exploration and reservoir geophysics that includes seismic data analysis, reservoir monitoring and geophysical inversion. Two of her papers on 4D seismic were rated as most popular articles in 2010 and 2009. One of her paper on signal processing fetched ‘best technical paper award’ at the international convention of Society of Petroleum Geophysicists (2004). She has successfully led the Indo-Norwegain Collaboration projects on “Seismic Monitoring of In-situ Combustion Process in Balol Heavy Oil Field, India” and “Feasibility Assessment of  CO2 EOR process in Ankleshwar Oil Field, India”. Presently she is in-charge of Shallow Seismic Group at NGRI and working on Exploration of Shale gas/oil & Coal in prospective basins, Sub-basalt imaging techniques and Time lapse seismic monitoring of CO2 sequestration process.
