Dr. D. Srinivasa Sarma has received his B.Sc., M.Sc., degrees from Osmania University and joined Geochemistry Group, NGRI in 1995 as a project fellow in the Exploration and understanding the genesis of gold mineralization in the Banded Iron Formations (BIFs) of the Dharwar Craton. Subsequently he obtained the Ph.D degree from the Osmania University while working in NGRI as a Scientist, on the genesis of gold mineralization in the BIFs of Gadag greenstone belt. He remained with the same line of research in understanding the crustal growth process in the Dharwar Craton through gold metallogeny. His main contributions are the age dating of the gold mineralization event(s) in the East and Western Dharwar cratons by U-Pb method on the phosphate minerals in the alteration assemblages, which turned out to be associated with the late cratonisation events in the Dharwar Craton. Under the BOYSCAST fellowship programme of the the DST, Govt of India, Dr. Sarma undertook the age dating of the mineralization event(s) in Hutti, Gadag and Ajjanahalli gold deposits by using U-Pb Phosphate geochronological methods. He also has carried out U-Pb zircon geochronology work on the plagiogranite from the Andaman Islands. Under the Raman Research Fellowship programme Dr. Sarma carried out Re-Os isotopic studies on the sulphide minerals from the ore zones of the gold mineralized zones of the Dharwar craton and Os isotopic work on the komatiites, Chromites. He has published more than 20 research papers in the peer reviewed Journals and he has been a reviewer for Journals like Economic Geology, Mineralium Deposita, Journal of Asian Earth Sciences etc.,
